Why This Exists ...
In 2018 we lost our great mate Matt “Mac” Macdonald to leukaemia. To honour Mac, we host the annual Macattack Weekend — a celebration of his life and a fundraiser for Rainbows and Smiles
As part of the weekend in 2025, the crowd nominated Chris Darby, Nick Davies, and Nick Brits to grow mullets for a full calendar year in Mac’s honour.
Questionable hair. Excellent cause.
What happened ...
On 5 September 2025, both nominees were called to the front and the crowd pledged donations.
The agreement is simple:
- If they keep their mullets for one full year or until the next MacAttack weekend, whichever comes first:
All pledged donations must be paid to the Macattack Foundation directly by 30 September 2026.
- If a donor does not pay by that date,
The donor agrees to grow a mullet for one year, provided the nominees have not cut theirs.
- If either nominees cuts their mullet early,
They personally pay 50% of the original pledged total to Rainbows and Smiles.
- Mullets must remain intact.
No trims. No “just a tidy up.”
